Redeem us, dear Lord
Dear Sir,
This Prayer was written by a 19-year-old studying in England after hearing about Friday night's shooting.
A Heartfelt Prayer for Bermuda
Dear Heavenly Father,
Right now I bring the country of Bermuda before You and all those who reside in it. There's so much going on in this country and so many unanswered questions. Lord we need You; protect us from this madness that's going on and keep us safe. As a citizen of Bermuda, I ask Your forgiveness as we have sat around so long and watched Bermuda crumble around us. We have been selfish in worrying about self, and not the community at large. There is no togetherness anymore, Lord, no loving our neighbour as ourselves. Help us to restore our old way. Lord, there's nowhere to look, no one to turn to. The government doesn't seem to want to change this, there's nowhere to look but up to You, Lord, although we should have turned to You in the first place. There's so much corruption going on. Forgive us for this Lord. Help us to find our way back to You. Give us strength and courage to take a stand, to say that enough is enough and we're not going to live like this anymore.
I pray for every broken soul and heart in the Island of Bermuda. There's a lack of fathers in the houses now and mama has to take up two roles. Lord, this wasn't Your purpose when You created the family. Man is the head of the household and he directed things. Lord, there's no respect anymore, for self and for community. No one cares about the next person, but how could we if we don't respect ourselves first. Lord, every stronghold, every feeling of hate, guilt, anger, jealousy, everything I pray that You bind it up right now and break these strongholds, releasing it from every individual. Fill our hearts with love and peace. Forgive everyone of their trespasses by thoughts, words, and deeds. Redeem us, dear Lord.
I bring the people in this mess before you Lord. Reveal to them that money, drugs and fame isn't the way and their eternal resting place will have none of that. Spark in their hearts the need and want for change, to live for You. Spark in their hearts the want to give up their current lifestyles and to let it all go. Let all their anger and resentment go. Lord, I pray for the Christians in the community. Forgive us, oh Lord, as we have not done Your will. We've let petty differences divide us as a body for You and we've stopped our ultimate purpose — to give You all the honour and glory. Lord, give us the strength and courage to get out of the four walls of our churches and to go witness and profess Your name. Help us to start this now more than ever Lord, as time is drawing near. We need to save souls in Your name. Forgive us for not acting earlier, but help us to reinstall morals, love and discipline into this beautiful country.
Lord, You said that you had given us a harvest. Well today Lord, I pray that everyone will reap the harvest that You have promised us and take back what the devil has stolen from us — a sense of community, love, family, faith and belief in You. We know that everything that happens is already ordained by You, oh Lord, but I feel that it's time for a wake-up call for change, Lord, please bless the 21 square miles that we live in, so that once again it can become a safe community for all to live in. Help us to take back power, as followers and believers in You so that Your name gets all the honour and glory. I claim it now, in Jesus' Name.
Thank you in advance, your humble servant
TANAYA
