Police arrest woman, 24, over alleged violent tirade

A 24-year-old Pembroke woman allegedly unleashed an angry and violent tirade on a man she apparently knew and then redirected her anger at Police after she was arrested.

It all began before dawn on Sunday morning at the Esso City Tigermarket.

The suspect walked into the store with a 27-year-old man.

Soon after entering, the two engaged in a physical altercation, according to Police.

While security personnel try to quell the disturbance, two more female suspects showed up and also began assaulting the man and throwing store merchandise at him.

All three women were arrested, but the main suspect was not done with her alleged assault.

A Police statement said: "After arriving at the Station the 24-year-old was taken to an interview room where she kicked an air conditioning unit, breaking the front cover off.

"When an officer released her from the handcuffs inside the interview room, she used the broken air conditioner cover to hit him in the head."

The officer was slightly injured with lacerations to his left index finger and above his left eye.

He had to go to hospital for treatment, according to Police.

There has been no final word on charges as the investigation continues.
