A brace by skipper Raymond Beach guided Dandy Town to an emphatic win over a woeful Southampton Rangers at Southampton Oval yesterday.

Hornets bought their goalscoring boots to the match, scoring four goals in a 15-minute spell in the first half to get their well deserved win.

"We finally got put our chances away. The last time I spoke about our finishing I said when we are hitting the net, someone will pay dearly and that's what happened today," said defender Tokia Russell.

Russell almost got the scoring underway with a spectacular bicycle kick that crashed against the crossbar early on. Not long after, though, the floodgates were open when Nahki Wells' shot bought out a fine save out from 'keeper Jason Smith, but Beach was on hand to put home the rebound from close range.

Wells had a chance to put his name on the scoresheet moments later, but missed a sitter. But the youngster made no mistake after a lapse of concentration at the back allowed Wells to latch onto a long ball and plant his effort past Smith.

Moments later, Wells was bought down by Smith in the area and Jared Peniston proceeded to get in on the act, slotting his penalty past a diving Smith who guessed the right way.

The onslaught wasn't over with Beach grabbing his second of the half from a Lashun Dill corner just before half-time.

The second half didn't have the excitement of the first in terms of goals, yet the hosts could have had a chance to make it interesting after Vernon Perinchief was bought down in the area.

Typical of the day for Rangers, skipper Kamen Tucker watched his penalty hit the woodwork and any thoughts of a late revival were all but gone.

To add insult to injury, substitute Lynn Tucker scored on the final play of the game.

Hornets now climb to fifth place, five points behind league leaders Boulevard.

"The first thing we look for in these types of situations is to get the three points and then worry about the performances, but this puts us in a good position with two games left before Christmas," continued Russell.

"If we can get some more points from those games we will be in a good position.

"This game shows us as a team that if we can put away our chances, no matter who gets them, that we can relax and play our game and that's what we did today."
