IF you are looking for fresh produce, look no further than the City Market. The seasonal farmers' market, which runs from the beginning of November until the end of June, reopens tomorrow with a grand party.

Located at the back of the Bull's Head car park in Hamilton, the market offers a wide variety of locally grown fruits, vegetables, fish, poultry, lamb, eggs, honey, along with locally crafted jewellrry, handbags, belts, crafts, home-made baked goods, soups, nuts and coffee.

"We have more than 30 vendors offering an excellent array of items, including jams, jewelry and tea," said Tom Wadson, owner of Wadson's Farm and an organising member of the City Market Association.

"Along with Terry-Lyn Thompson, Anne Marie DeGraffe, Mary DeSilva and a few loyal volunteers, we have a lot of exciting things going on."

"It's just the beginning of the farm season here so we won't have some things like broccoli and cauliflower," said Mr. Wadson. "But we will have an abundance of other items. I will be bringing eggs and pasture-raised, organic chicken. We will also be taking orders for turkeys for Christmas."

In celebration of the grand reopening this weekend, the market will offer free hay rides, a bouncy castle, games for children and, according to Mr. Wadson, maybe even some tractor rides.

The City Market is open every Saturday, starting this week, from 8 a.m. until noon.
