Economy airline JetBlue made its first landing in Bermuda yesterday morning.

But the Airbus, which came in at 5.20 a.m., is not part of a new scheduled service.

It made an emergency stop due to a female passenger with breathing difficulties.

The flight from San Juan to New York's JFK Airport was diverted after the woman in her mid-40s became sick. It made the unscheduled stop in Bermuda where the woman, accompanied by her son, left the plane to be taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital before it resumed its journey at 6.45 a.m..

The Ministry of Transport and airport authorities have been courting the low-cost airline for nearly two years and are still hopeful of a scheduled New York flight being introduced in the future.
