Holdipp launches Inspiring Moments at National Library

Inspiring Moments, a devotional written by Crystal Holdipp, will be launched at the Bermuda National Library on Saturday, July 5th. This will run from 11am until 1pm with a limited number of Inspiring Moments available for sale. Black and white copies cost $13, while colour copies cost $20. Admission is free. Thanks to a new programme, the beautiful Government House Gardens will be open to the public on Sundays, excluding Cup Match weekend, from noon to 5pm until September. Families are invited to come and relax and enjoy the space. Entry and exit will be by the North Gate on North Shore Road. Visitors are encouraged to come by foot, pedal bike or use the No 11 bus, which stops near the gate, as there will be no parking allowed on the grounds. Visitors are asked to respect the gardens, especially the gardens being run by students from the three Pembroke Parish primary schools: Victor Scott, West Pembroke and Northlands, and are asked to be considerate of others using the grounds by not playing amplified music and by not bringing dogs. Francophones and francophiles alike are invited to a garden party for a Bastille Day Celebration with l’Alliance Française des Bermudes on Saturday, July 12th. This will take place in the beautiful gardens of historic Waterville, Bermuda National Trust’s HQ on Pomander Gate Road in Paget and the evening will begin with cocktails at 6.30pm, followed by dinner at 7.30pm. Dinner will be catered by Chef Derek Meyers from Island Restaurant Group and will feature a salad bar, BBQ with steak, merguez and local fish served with roast potatoes and ratatouille, cheeses, crêpes and macarons. The second of Discovery Wines Summer Sunset Cruise Series aboard the Ana Luna will be their Full Moon Cruise on Saturday, July 12th. The boat will leave the dock at Grotto Bay at 7pm, returning at 9pm, and promises an ethereal selection of food and wine for you to enjoy during this celestial cruise to watch the sun set and the moon rise. As well as the moon, many stars are promised as D’General presents the Heineken Full Moon Party at Barr’s Bay Park on Saturday, July 12th. This will kick off at 9pm and will feature international Soca Monarch Kerwin Du Bois, DJ Crown Prince from Dubai, DJ Barrie Hype from Miami and local DJs, DJ Rusty G, New Era and D’General. Tickets are $40 and are on sale at Kit N Caboodle, Stefanel and www.pTix.bm. The next in the Department of Community & Cultural Affairs’ Historical Heartbeats Lecture Series will be Reparation, Psychological Rehabilitation and Pedagogical Strategies on Thursday, July 24th at Bermuda National Gallery. This is the ninth Annual Dr Kenneth E Robinson/Cyril Outerbridge Packwood Memorial Lecture and the speaker for the evening will be Dr Verene Shepherd, Professor of Social History at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. The reception will begin at 5.30pm, followed by the lecture at 6pm. The cost is $10 per person and light refreshments will be served.
