The Bermuda Tourism Authority has promoted human resources executive Tracy Berkeley to a new position of chief administrative officer.

Ms Berkeley joined the BTA one year ago as director of people.

A statement said the new role was part of a new operational structure which phased out the role of chief operations officer held by Karla Lacey, who left the organisation last year.

The statement said: “Ms Berkeley will be tasked with operational oversight of the organisation, including HR and management of administrative staff, the Bermuda Visitor Service Centre, and the Tourism Standards team. She will lead industry workforce readiness initiatives, destination accreditation, and manage legal relationships and oversee facilities contracts for teams in Bermuda and New York.”

Interim chief executive officer Glenn Jones said: “The talent in our organisation has developed impressively over the past seven years, withstanding many challenges. And with this workforce development comes opportunities for high performers to elevate. Tracy is another example of the positive, career-building culture at the BTA that is essential to the well-being of Bermuda’s tourism industry. I know she will perform magnificently in this new role.”

Prior to joining the BTA, MS Berkeley was head of talent and culture at Rosewood Bermuda, led the Bermuda human resources division at Aspen Re and headed the Bermuda Hospitals Board’s human resources and operations team.

She said: "I am looking forward to this opportunity as we continue to play a pivotal role in both tourism recovery and reshaping the industry. I work with a dynamic group of committed individuals who motivate me every day with their passion for Bermuda.”

Berkeley assumes her new role on February 1.
