Bailey's Bay 74-4

Corey Hill wrecked Devonshire Recreation Club with a six-wicket haul as he led home side Bailey's Bay to an eight-wicket victory in this Premier Division game at Sea Breeze Oval yesterday.

The seam bowler finished with his top-season figures of six for 20 in 7.4 overs and his analysis might have been even more impressive had he not injured himself and was unable to bowl for the remainder of Devonshire's innings.

Hill, a former Bermuda international bowler, was mainly responsible for the quick demise of the visitors who lasted for a mere 19 overs and failed to reach the three-figure mark.

Dennis Pilgrim gave Hill support at the opposite end by taking three wickets for 17 runs off 5.3 overs, including a maiden.

Devonshire's miserable day at the crease saw them struggle from the outset with opening batsman Jeremy Fray falling first ball to Burton Outerbridge..

Hill took over from Outerbridge and mowed down the next six batsmen with Devonshire unable to recover from the early setback, losing the next six wickets at four, four, 10, 21 and 21.

The only player offering any real defiance was the other opener Toriano (Tiny) Henry who top scored with 24 with two sixes and two fours.

Lower order bat Dennis Williams was the only other player in double figures with 17 – the pair desperately finding runs to enable Devonshire to escape what once appeared to be an embarrassing final total of 50 or less.

Devonshire saw four of their batsmen score ducks and five others under 10.

The meagre winning target proved to be no real obstacle for the home side who coasted to victory in 17.2 overs while losing two wickets.

Dennico Hollis led the reply with a brisk 27 not out while opener Marvin Trott chipped in with 20 and David Lovell 14 not out.
