Breaking News: Corporation of Hamilton asks public to help save the city
Petition stations are to be set up as the Corporation of Hamilton continues to try and garner support against any Government move to abolish the municipalities.
Hamilton Mayor Charles Gosling said nearly 3,000 people have signed a petition to save the city — before their formal public drive had even started.
In a poll of more than 400 residents, 72 percent were opposed to a potential Government takeover of the corporation — while 54 percent were opposed to gaming.
And nearly nine in ten people polled wanted to see the corporation and Government work together to resolve this issue.
Tomorrow petitions will be offered at various locations including Bull’s Head car park, the Ferry Terminal, MarketPlace, People’s Pharmacy, Supermart, Gosling’s on Front Street and Par-la-Ville Park.
