Former Policeman dies in Canada
News has been received of the death of William Stanley (Bill) Freeman, a former resident of Bermuda. He was 75.
Mr. Freeman died peacefully on January 31 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge, Ontario.
He was in a coma for three weeks and the family kept vigil at his side during that time.
Mr. Freeman was born on October 22, 1932, in Manchester, England, the only child of William and Helena Freeman.
His family said he led a full and happy life in England, Germany, Bermuda and Canada; with a particularly special place in his heart kept for Bermuda where he met his wife almost 50 years ago and where the extended family spent some of its happiest times over the years.
In Bermuda, he served in the Bermuda Police and later owned Ceramica Bermuda in St. George's. He retired in 2003 and moved to Canada with his wife, Rosemary.
He also leaves children Anne Elizabeth of Bermuda, William of Toronto, Helen of Bandol, France, and Alexandra of Cambridge, daughter- and son-in-law Christina and Greg and grandchildren Freeman, Emmeline Francoise, Bryant and Aiden.
He will be sadly missed by them all as well as his sister-in-law Anne Pearson of Bermuda, special family friend Joe Gibbons of Bermuda and close friends.
The funeral was held on February 5 in Cambridge, Ontario.
