Five senior Police officers recieve promotions

Five Police officers climbed another step up the career ladder this week when their promotions were announced.

Antoine Daniels, the man who heads up the Serious Crime Division, has been promoted to the rank of Superintendent.

Mr. Daniels is a Bermudian who joined the service as a cadet 25 years ago and has recently headed up a number of high-profile murder investigations.

He's worked in various postings in the past including uniform, criminal investigations, the drugs unit, the operational support unit and the service delivery improvement team.

Martin Weekes has also been promoted to Superintendent. He left the English Police service in 1988 after nine years to come to Bermuda.

He's served in a wide variety of postings including uniform patrol, the child victims unit, schools liaison and as parish constable for Smith's parish.

He now commands the Community Policing Division where he's responsible for Police Stations Island-wide, overseeing community policing initiatives.

Meanwhile Hashim Estwick, who joined the Bermuda Police Service in 1988 from Barbados, and Na'imah Williams, who joined Bermuda Police as a cadet in 1994, have both been promoted to Chief Inspector.

Sherwin Joseph has been promoted to Inspector.

All the appointments were made on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission, with the approval of Governor Sir Richard Gozney.
