Kyle Lightbourne's first game under new Hull City manager Jan Molby could hardly have been worse.

Not only were the Tigers on the end of a 4-0 home thumping from promoted Luton, but the Bermudian had to leave the Division Three clash injured.

Lightbourne, on loan from division rivals Macclesfield until the end of the season, has not scored since his move to Boothferry Park last month.

And he and fellow strikers Gary Bradshaw and Gary Alexander had little joy on Saturday in a team performance that left the new boss seething.

"I knew that not all was well but I didn't think it was as bad as our performance showed today," he said.

"There weren't any positives and all aspects of our play simply weren't good enough.

"You look at it and ask the question what did we do well - did we defend well? You'd have to say no. Did we compete well? Again, the answer is no. Did our fitness stand up to the pace of the game? Most definitely not. It was all very poor."

Molby said he could not put his finger on the reasons behind the performance.

"It's difficult for me to know why there wasn't any real enthusiasm because I only know the players as that, rather than as people," he said.

"It was lacklustre and we were flat. Okay, we started brightly and had the Richard Sneekes free kick and a header cleared off the line, but that isn't enough in a home game.

"There was no desire and nobody took any responsibility for delivering crosses or having shots. And most definitely, nobody apart from Gary Alexander looked like scoring."

Lightbourne went off after 65 minutes with an unknown injury, and depending on the severity it could be the last action he will get this season.

His loan spell comes to an end on April 20 following the end-of-season clash with Lincoln and then, if Hull opt not to keep him, he will return to Macclesfield no doubt to sort out his future.
