Wolves, Boulevard deadlocked
Promoted Wolves are quickly settling down to life in the First Division. Last weekend they absorbed early Somerset Trojans pressure to snatch a second half winner.
Last night at Devonshire Rec. -- again in the 74th minute -- they salvaged a point to deny Boulevard the three points.
Boulevard stunned their opponents by snatching the lead in the 44th minute.
Gregg Foggo flighted in a freekick from near the halfway line and when the ball was headed into the six-yard box at the near post, teenager Desta Samuels scored with a low shot.
Before that goal the best chances had fallen to Wolves as Keemo Smith grazed the bar in the opening minutes as Wolves put Boulevard under early pressure.
Nathan Webb, booked in the second minute for a harsh tackle on goalkeeper Andre Hendrickson, went close in the 25th minute when he shot just wide after pressure again opened the Boulevard defence.
Boulevard came more into contention later in the half with Vernon Eve, Vernon Phillips and Otis Minors leading their attack.
A goal down, Wolves brought on veteran midfielder Dion Wainwright at the start of the second half for Keemo Smith.
Webb went close yet again after Peter Sampson, who had a good game in midfield, set him up inside the box. Ellington Weldon twice had shots blocked inside the six-yard box before Webb scooped the third attempt over the top.
Hendrickson was busy again minutes later when Leonard Hypolite's freekick was headed down for Wainwright whose left-footer inside the box produced a brilliant reflex save from Hendrickson.
The Boulevard lead should have been stretched in the 67th minute when a good chance fell to Minors whose first attempt was blocked by Hewvonnie Brown before he wasted the rebound.
That miss proved costly as Wolves came back seven minutes later to snatch the equaliser when a long ball upfield sent substitute Nirobi Smith through the middle to score past Hendrickson.
And Wolves almost came up with a winner five minutes from the end when former Colts teammates, Hypolite and Weldon, combined with a one-two before Weldon drove low past the far post.
Before that Phillips' shot from an angle was parried by Brown as Boulevard also sought a late winner.
Fullback Foggo was ejected three minutes into stoppage time for a second caution, this time for time wasting.

St. David's 1 St. George's 1 St. David's picked up their first win of the season, but they had to hang on against a late surge from their east end neighbours in the opening Second Division match last night.
St. David's led 2-0 at the half with goals from Judah Tucker (penalty) and Worrell Bean before player-coach Neil Paynter pulled one back for St. George's with a scorcher from just inside the box.
League action continues this weekend with the first ever First Division match under lights at St. John's field tonight.
Western Stars Sports Club, who opened their ground earlier this year, see their team, Dandy Town, taking on newly promoted Hamilton Parish at 8.00. It will be a homecoming for Parish pair, goalkeeper Cymande Davis and striker Corey Hill, both former Town players.
Tomorrow, the pick of the three matches should be the clash between Southampton Rangers and champions Vasco at Southampton Oval. Rangers will be anxious to bounce back from their 3-1 loss to Vasco in the Martonmere Cup recently and make it two league wins in a row.
North Village meet neighbours Devonshire Cougars at Bernard Park, hoping to make it two straight wins while the other match sees Devonshire Colts playing Somerset Trojans at White Hill field. The Trojans impressed briefly last weekend against Wolves before losing 1-0 while Colts edged by Boulevard 1-0 in their league opener.
In the Second Division, promotion hopefuls PHC take on Island Rangers at Southampton Oval while Somerset Eagles meet Paget at White Hill, both matches starting at 1.00.
