Nominations sought
the fifth annual H. David Archibald lecture series, the province of Ontario agency said.
Nominees will have conducted outstanding addictions research and practice, and stimulated new thought in the addictions field, the ARF said.
A plaque and an $1,000 (Cdn) honourarium will be awarded to the individual invited to deliver the H. David Archibald Lecture.
The lecture will be delivered as a public lecture at the ARF.
The topic for 1998 is behavioural research, basic and clinical.
"In order for the committee to make an informed decision, it is important that reasons for your nomination be incorporated into a nominating letter with a recent biographical sketch,'' the ARF said.
Dr. Archibald headed the Royal Commission on drugs in the 1980s. In the 1990s, he drew up Bermuda's anti-drugs strategy. He proposed the establishment of the National Drug Council and urged Bermuda to unite to fight against substance abuse.
