restaurant licence for a restaurant in the old Cottage Bakery.

A spokesman for the company said he could not comment on the plans for the restaurant -- named the Fox and Hound -- while the licence application was before the Liquor Licence Authority.

The Cottage Bakery closed late last year. All the staff were made redundant and the contents were auctioned off.

Flanagan's application comes as activity in the restaurant sector appears to be increasing.

Rosa's Cantina should make the move from Reid Street to its new Front Street location in mid-July, said owner Mr. John Roach. The restaurant will likely be closed for about one week while the move is made.

Rosa's will keep the same flavour and appearance, he said.

The restaurant, started four years ago, "turned out successful and we needed to be larger so we decided to make the move,'' Mr. Roach explained. Rosa's patrons will not have to go far to the new location as it is only one block and one building away.

The new Rosa's will be located in part of the old Purina building on Front Street.

With the restaurant move, Bermuda Restaurants Ltd., which owns Rosa's Cantina, will also move their offices, previously located in another part of the building, into the old bakery location. Bermuda Restaurants also owns Chopsticks Restaurant and the Bombay Bicycle Club.

Construction on the new home for Rosa's, which specialises in "Tex/Mex'' fare started about two months ago.

Meanwhile, work is progressing at the Railway Station in the second floor at the Brunswick Mall on Front Street. Owners of the Railway Station (DNS Holding Company Limited) have applied for a provisional nightclub licence. The club's manager Dean Jones said the new Railway Station is slated to open during the second week of July.
