The 32-year-old New Jersey woman also suffered a fractured pelvis and was yesterday listed in stable condition in the intensive care unit, a Police spokesman said.

The accident occurred at around 12.30 p.m. near Chapel of Ease Road. She was riding her moped east along St. David's Road when she was in a collision with a truck travelling in the opposite direction.

Her male pillion passenger was only slightly harmed, while the truck driver escaped injury.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to contact the St.

George's Police Station.
