St George’s Sea Cadets Corps celebrates 40 years

The 40th anniversary of the St George’s Bermuda Sea Cadet Corps saw a Colours ceremony and prizegiving over the weekend.The unit, known as TS Admiral Somers, was feted by Public Safety Minister Michael Dunkley, with MP Nandi Davis and Government Senator Alexis Swan.The Minister, along with Ms Davis, then inspected the Ship’s Company.Landmark events over the unit’s past year include having a Bermuda Sea Cadets contingent at the Diamond Jubilee Thames Pageant.The unit also supported the 400th anniversary gala at St Peter’s Church.Commanding Officer Lieutenant Michael Frith hailed the unit’s founders, adding: “When you look at these cadets, and see what their work has achieved, you also see the work of 40 years.”Useful website: www.seacadets.bm.
