Boulevard chase cup record

appearance tonight at Somerset (9.00) when they take on North Village in a semi-final that will be a repeat of last year's final.

The Blazers can lay claim to the label of most consistent team in the Martonmere Cup in the 1990s and even though they have been otherwise inconsistent so far this season, they will go into tonight's clash as favourites, albeit only slightly. A league meeting between the two teams three weeks ago ended in a 2-2 draw after Village equalised in the final minute.

Indications are this clash could be just as close as Village bid to stop Boulevard's march to yet another final. Both teams will be welcoming players back, with Village's rugged defender Irving Romaine and Boulevard's Gregg Foggo returning from international duty in Jamaica with the Bermuda cricket team. Boulevard's coach Herbie Bascome was also a member of the tour party.

Village have their sights on a record of their own as victory this year would move them level with Somerset for the most wins in the competition -- seven.

Somerset have appeared in a record 10 finals while Village have made nine appearances in the November 11 classic.

In the last four finals Boulevard have won twice and lost twice, beating Devonshire Colts in 1993 before losing the next two finals to Vasco and then bouncing back to beat Village 1-0 in extra-time in last November's final.

For only the second time in the history of the competition the two semi-finals are being played on separate dates.

The winners tonight will know their opponents in the final next Thursday when Vasco meet Dandy Town at Devonshire Rec.

Tonight's 7.00 opener sees BAA taking on Robin Hood in the Commercial League Cup A final. They were the top two teams in their division last year. Because of Robin Hood's involvement tonight, their FA Cup preliminary round tie with Valley, which was scheduled for tomorrow, has been put back to BAA Field on Tuesday night.

League matches take a break tomorrow for the FA Cup which involves the Commercial League teams in three double-headers at White Hill Field, St.

John's Field and PHC Stadium.

The two matches at White Hill see Lobster Pot taking on MR Onions and Forties meeting Prison Officers. At St. John's, Exiles play Belco and Bermuda Pest Control meet Island Rangers while at PHC Stadium, Spinning Wheel clash with St. George's All-Stars and Mariners play Fire Service.

Two Women's Division matches which were postponed last night will now take place tomorrow at BAA Field. PHC Teasers take on Wolves Girls in the 1.00 fixture while Dandy Stars meet Rude Girls at 3.00 p.m.
