Robinson puts lid on Pot
second-placed Lobster Pot on Saturday and thus helped Fire Service extend their lead at the top of Group A of the Commercial League.
It was only the second loss of the season for Lobster Pot who went into the game trailing unbeaten Fire Service by three points. That lead was extended when Fire beat St. George's All-Stars 5-2 on goals from Ralph Scott, Steven Caines, Theron Smith, Troy Furbert and Alan Wilkinson. James Pace and Cal Rayner replied for the All-Stars.
Defending champions BAA Wanderers moved into second place with their 2-0 win over Ireland Rangers. Both goals came in the second half for injury-hit Wanderers with Steven Irvine getting the first and substitute Dave (Gould) Roberts the second late in the game.
North Village Rams were the big winners, blasting Spinning Wheel 8-2 to record only their second win of the season. Kenny Thompson netted four times and Allan Fray three while Garrett Dill got the other Rams goal.
Des Minors and Stephen Tucker scored for last-placed Raiders. It was Minors' eighth goal of the season and his 150th in the Commercial League in eight seasons, but unfortunately for him Thompson and Fray stole the spotlight.
"We are just in a slump and everybody is pointing fingers,'' said Minors of the team's poor form.
"They (Rams) were leading 6-1 at the half and it could have finished 12 or 13, they were that good. They were the first team I've seen spray the ball around like that. I was impressed.'' In the other Group A match Mariners edged by MR Onions 3-2. Gary Wilson and Scott Cervino replied for the losers.
In Group B, Prison Officers made it six straight wins when they edged by Wolves Pack 1-0 on a goal from Denton Leader. Forties romped to a 5-0 win over Devonshire Colts All-Stars with Mike Williams scoring a hat-trick and Steve Garratt and Brian Fubler getting the others.
Exiles picked up their first point of the season when they drew 3-3 with Valley. Craig Tyrell, Allan Johnson and Johnny Semos scored for bottom team Exiles while Clevie Crichlow an Kevin Isaac (2) replied for Valley.
Devonshire Lions drew 2-2 with Belco, James Raynor scoring both Lions goals while Craig Brangman netted twice for Belco.
