Jones shows class with bat
S'pton Rangers 267
Police 188
91 from Malachi Jones led Southampton Rangers to a comfortable 79-run victory over Police at Southampton Oval.
The victory avenged last week's loss to the same opponents at Police Field, thus keeping their pressure on St. David's for the 50-over title.
It was the skipper who stood above the rest on the eve of his return to international cricket for Bermuda. Jones' knock of 91 included 12 fours and four sixes as he exploded with the bat, setting the field ablaze.
Keith Wainwright helped skipper Jones in the runs department with a useful 42.
Melvin Best was the pick of the Police bowling, returning with figures of three for 40 with Anderson Cumberbatch taking three wickets for 56 runs.
In reply Vincent Bradshaw scored 45 for the visitors who were bowled out for 188.
Ryan Belboda had figures of three for 43, while Andrew Raynor bowled three balls for no runs and took two wickets.
Bailey's Bay 145
St David's 149-4
Lionel Cann blasted a 17-ball half century as St David's crushed Bailey's Bay at the Sea Breeze Oval.
Cann (58) smashed eight sixes and four fours as the Islanders cruised to a six wicket win. It kept them two points clear at the top of the Premier Division with just one weekend of matches left.
Earlier Bay had to rely on some late innings fireworks from Wendell White (36) to give their total an air of respectability.
Angelo Cannonier and Chris Douglas were the pick of the St David's bowlers, taking two wickets apiece, with Douglas taking both of his for one run in the only over he bowled.
