Owner Mr. Glen Smith said yesterday he was selling Invisible Fencing Bermuda because of the growth in his other company, International Bonded Couriers of Bermuda Ltd.

Invisible fencing consists of a buried electric cable and a transmitter which emits slight electric shocks which a dog wearing a special collar feels.

IFB has 565 clients and its manager Mr. Chris Marshall intends to move to IBC leaving the position vacant, said Mr. Smith.

Although there are now fewer new installations than there were in he company's younger days, he said, adding: "The market is not saturated. Because of the healthy client base there is now a new service aspect.'' IFB was started in 1986 by Mr. Smith, agent for Invisible Fence Company Inc., the Pennsylvania-based parent company.

The business was significant for Mr. Smith because it generated capital to finance IBC.

"The fencing business was a great starter but now it is time to bow out,'' he said. "The bulk of my time is spent at IBC. We have 30 employees and IFB is unrelated to the courier company.'' IFB is well suited for an individual looking for a entrepreneurial start and will take a person who likes the outdoors and contact with customers, he said.

Mr. Smith preferred not to divulge sales figures for the private company or his asking price.

IBC is an international courier, local messenger service, local cargo and freight business and recently announced a new service called IBC Newsflite.
