Rawlins seeks to raise UBPprofile
More than 100 supporters attended the annual meeting of the United Bermuda Party and heard about three main aims for 2006.
As she accepted re-election to the party chairmanship for a third year, Gwneyth Rawlins told the meeting: ?We must further raise the profile of the party by telling our story.
?The younger generation, many of whom have reached voting age, does not know the history of the party, nor do they know what we accomplished as the Government. We must reach them.?
She said the party must restore faith in the party and come up with tangible statements that state the philosophy of the UBP and give people something to believe in.
And speaking to she said it is still her ambition to win election to the House of Assembly and she intends to run for Parliament in the next General Election.
?In spite of my not being successful in the last election it has not deterred me from pursuing that dream. I feel being party chairman has positioned me to one day do justice to the House,? she said.
Also being elected to party office at the AGM were Keetha Lowe, Sarah Burrows and Glen Smith as deputy chairmen, Tim Smith as party secretary and Anne Kast as treasurer.
