Colts, Town in battle for top spot

Field when first and second-placed Devonshire Colts and Dandy Town clash in one of the most important matches so far this season.

Colts regained the top spot last weekend when they stopped champions Vasco while Town had to battle from 2-0 down to earn a draw against Boulevard.

Now both teams know they control their own destiny. Both were missing key players last weekend as Town were without Walter Musson, Lionel Furbert and Kurt Martin while Colts had four starters out because of the 'flu.

PHC, who dropped two valuable points against bottom team St. George's last weekend, will be aiming to catch up when they take on Devonshire Cougars tonight at PHC Stadium (9.00).

Cougars can further boost their survival hopes with another victory. The match will be preceded by a Women's League game between PHC Teasers and Dandy Stars.

Tomorrow's other First Division matches see St. David's hosting St. George's in a local derby at St. David's involving the two bottom teams while North Village clash with Vasco at Bernard Park and Southampton Rangers entertain Boulevard at Southampton Oval.

In the Second Division, Wolves, Somerset Eagles and Somerset Trojans will all be looking to close the gap on idle leaders Hotels. All three are locked on 18 points, eight behind Hotels, with Wolves clashing with Eagles at Devonshire Rec. in the top game while the Trojans take on Paget at Southampton Oval.

The match between Prospect and Social Club has been switched to PHC Stadium at 1.00.

Meanwhile, last night's matches at BAA Field have been put back to today because of the Bank of Butterfield Mile series. BAA will play Hamilton Parish at 3.00 and Robin Hood will take on Rude Girls at 1.00 in a Women's League match.

Changes to today's Commercial League Group B matches will see Exiles playing Rams at Bernard Park at 1.00, Fire Service taking on Belco at Bernard Park at 3.00, Wolves Pack and Somerset Extros playing at Devonshire Rec at 1.00 and Lions clashing with Prison Officers at 3.00 at the Rec.
