Spurling's 'The Lion and the Mouse' wins BIFF Audience Choice Award

A film about the history of Bermuda and its relationship with the US was this year's pick of movie-goers at the Bermuda International Film Festival.

Lucinda Spurling's film 'The Lion and the Mouse' won the Bacardi Limited Audience Choice Award at the 12th edition of BIFF, which concluded on Saturday.

The award is voted for by the film-goers themselves rather than festival judges, and has been sponsored by Bacardi, a BIFF Contributing Partner, for the past three years.

"Bacardi is once again excited to partner with BIFF and to support local film," said Craig Smith, Bacardi brand manager for Bermuda.

"We extend our congratulations to Lucinda Spurling on winning the Bacardi Limited Audience Choice Award, and wish her much success for future endeavours."

Ms Spurling said she was "absolutely delighted" to win.

"This film is a culmination of three years' hard work and I am thrilled to be the recipient of the Bacardi Limited Audience Choice Award."

'The Lion and the Mouse' used local actors to chart the landmark moments, relationships, conflicts and characters which all shaped the first four centuries of settlement in America and Bermuda.
