Local shipping movements during the past week
BCL freighter Oleander returned to the Island on Sunday from Port Elizabeth, New Jersey on its weekly run, bringing 185 dry containers and 46 refrigerated ones.
It had miscellaneous cargo consisting of three road trailers, seven cars, one truck and a trailer. It sailed out of the Island yesterday.
An oil tanker had to be diverted to Bermuda last Thursday after a crew member on board suffered two large open fractures to his right foot.
Bermuda Radio received the medical call about vessel Seri Begawan around 6.14 p.m. via its local shipping agent. The carrier was bound for Mexico, from Spain when the Malaysian national suffered the serious injury.
The ship arrived in Bermuda at 8.20 a.m. the next day after it was determined that Bermuda was closest in proximity.
The crew member was taken on pilot boat St. George, to Ordnance Island where an awaiting ambulance transported him to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
