Burchall sparks Southampton:CRICKET First Division

Somerset 120 Darren Burchall smashed 117 in an opening stand of 172 with Sheridan Ming as unbeaten Southampton Rangers romped to another comfortable win in First Division cricket .

Burchall and Ming (52) piled on the runs against Somerset, who began with eight men and finished with 10.

Rangers, too, were one short but that did not stop them from amassing a huge total in this limited overs match, thanks to Burchall's century which included 14 fours and six sixes while Ming had five fours in his supporting role.

Carl Garzette chipped in with 25 and captain Olin Jones 28 not out as Rangers reached their total in just 48 overs.

Tony Cheeseman and Alfred Carter gave Somerset a good start with an opening stand of 65 but not much else happened for them after the pair departed in the space of three runs as 65 without loss soon became 89 for four and then 108-6.

Cheeseman scored 30 and Carter 23 but the rest of the batting failed to come good as Janeiro Tucker continued his fine season with the ball, taking four for 19 off 10 overs and Ryan Belboda, who removed both openers, claiming four for 27.

Devonshire 155 Warwick 93 Ten-man Devonshire also picked up a good victory, after Warwick struggled to reach their winning target of 156 at Devonshire Rec.

Jeffrey James, with 22 from four fours, was Warwick's high man as Leon Place claimed three for six from 10 overs of medium pace and Anthony Amory claimed three for 11 from 7.2 overs. Chris Caisey supported with two for 28.

Earlier Toriano Henry was high man for Devonshire with 24, shared in a second wicket stand of 48 with Erskine (Choe) Smith who scored 22. Brothers Anthony and Omar Amory each scored 16 as Stephen Bremar claimed four for 49.

ITC 122 PHC 125-5 The International Youth Team made PHC work hard for their runs before an unbroken stand of 68 for the sixth wicket between Kallan Johnston and William Minors secured a five wicket win at St. David's.

Minors, coming in at 6-1, lost partners on 20, 23, 30 and 57 before Johnston stayed with him to the end. Minors finished with 39 and Johnston 45.

Ricky Brangman was high man for the youngsters with 30 as he and M.Campbell rescued them from 65-7 with a stand of 46. Campbell scored 22 not out and Justin Robinson 25 earlier in the innings. Lyle Millett and Johnston each took three wickets, for 21 and 18 from 10 overs and Mark Smith two for 11.

Flatts 278-5 Som. Bridge 176 Derek Wright, Rodney Woolridge, Brandon Woolridge and Braxton Stowe all got amongst the runs as Flatts built a huge total against Somerset Bridge at White hill field on their way to victory by 102 runs.

Wright scored 49, Rodney scored 67, Brandon 58 not out and Stowe 35 not out as Bridge used seven bowlers in trying to contain them. The most successful were Corvett Lambert with two for 40 and Brian Gibbons with two for 45.

Jamie Cann scored 71 to lead the Bridge batting while Francis Richardson hit 52, but the target was always going to be out of Bridge's reach after they lost their first three wickets with just 16 on the board.
