Financial Women join together
Nan Crowley, international president of US-based Financial Women International, Inc., led a delegation of six members of the group to the Island to help set up the local chapter.
The 8,000-strong membership worldwide includes women in the banking, insurance, real estate, and brokerage industries. The organisation acts as an advocate on work-related issues affecting women and also provides education to its membership.
"We say it's for women who have anything to do with money,'' Ms Crowley said.
About 60 potential members turned up for a presentation about the organisation on Thursday at The Club. Charline Asphall, Vice President and head of retail delivery at the Bank of Bermuda was nominated as first president of the fledgling local branch.
Ms Crowley and five other US members met with Premier Pamela Gordon, Opposition Leader Jennifer Smith and representatives of the Bermuda Monetary Authority.
