St David’s look to sign off in style

St David’s will look to finish their season with a third trophy, with the Lindo’s T20 semi-finals and final signalling the end of the season this weekend.

The Islanders, who won the T20 competition last year, hope to add to the Belco Cup and Logic Premier Division titles they have already won this season.

But first they will have to defeat Willow Cuts in tomorrow’s semi-final at Lord’s before making plans for Sunday’s final at Somerset, where the winners will meet either Bailey’s Bay or Southampton Rangers, who play in tomorrow’s other semi-final.

St David’s beat Willow Cuts in May to win the Belco Cup, ending a 12-year wait.

Cuts have not been at full strength lately and could pay the price. Malachi Jones, the Cuts captain, will be a key man with both bat and ball, while Cuts will also rely on the likes of Shaquille Jones, Richardo Brangman and Deunte Darrell for runs.

George O’Brien, a former Cuts all-rounder, has had an outstanding season for St David’s, but they have other potential match winners, too, like captain OJ Pitcher, Fiqre Crockwell and seam bowler Kevin Hurdle.

Rangers may have a slight edge over Bay who have seen Terryn Fray, Tre Manders and Delray Rawlins return to England to continue their education.

Dion Stovell and Janeiro Tucker, the Rangers captain, are well-suited to T20 and could decorate the scoreboard quite quickly for Rangers.

Sunday’s final will start at 3pm at Somerset. An under-17 East v West all-star T20 match starts at 11am.
