Stevedoring profit falls 38%

Stevedoring Services Ltd. boosted its revenue by almost $200,000 over the past six months, according to the latest figures released to the Bermuda Stock Exchange.

Its unaudited financial figures for the six-month period ending September 30 showed revenue was up from $6,213,342 for the same period in 2006 to $6,404,157 in 2007.

However, expenses were also on the increase at $ 5,827,280, up from $5,280,528, while net profit dropped from $933,814 to $576,877 and income per share from 75 cents to 46 cents over the respective times.

"Revenue increased by 3.1 percent over the previous period, whilst expenses increased by 10.4 percent resulting in a decrease of 38.2 percent in net income," said Peter Aldrich, general manager of Stevedoring Services.

"Indications are that the coming months will not see any major fluctuations in cargo volumes, and the company's performances remains pretty much consistent with the previous financial year."
