Lugo looking for St. David’s to bounce back
St David’s defender Aaron Lugo is eager to take to the pitch tomorrow in an effort to help his side their first win of the campaign after a less than ideal start in the Premier Division. The Islanders are winless after their opening three matches and without a point, leaving them bottom of the table.Tomorrow will see the arrival of Southampton Rangers at Lords in what has now become a critical match for the hosts who can’t afford to lose any further ground behind those teams nearby in the standings.Lugo says it’s a good time for his side to bounce back from their early season dip in form and get on the winning trail.“Nothing has changed for us, we are still focused on the task at hand and know what needs to be done,” said Lugo. “It’s not unusual for teams to get off to bad starts, as is our case, but we can’t drop our heads and lose focus.“The season is only three games in, we just need to continue to play hard and take things when they come our way. We have been a bit unfortunate at times but that is a part of the game and you have to move on.“When things like this face you, you can either let it get to you or continue to work hard and good things will come your way.”Lugo believes that the results his side are getting are not reflective of the commitment and dedication that the players are showing.Pointing to their most recent defeat to Somerset Trojans, the St David’s president feels they have been unfortunate but insists that the panic button isn’t being pushed.“The Robin Hood game we played well but things didn’t go our way, PHC we had to fight the conditions as well and against Somerset we were unfortunate.“It is football, anything can happen on a Sunday and focus is the key,but we certainly aren’t hitting the panic button by any stretch of the imagination.“The teams that are above us are only a few points ahead so we just need to do what we have to do and we will get back into the thick of things.”The match of the day tomorrow will see Dandy Town travel to Southampton Oval to lock horns with fellow title contenders PHC in what should be a match filled with entertainment and goals.Elsewhere in Premier Division action, new boys Robin Hood will have their work cut out as they travel to Bernard Park to play defending champions North Village, while Devonshire Cougars make the trek east to Wellington Oval to clash with St George’s.In action tonight at BAA Field, Boulevard welcome Somerset Trojans with kick-off set for 9pm.
