Division club, a side in the Danish First Division and even from South Korea.

But Bristol City still look favourites to land the free-scoring Bermudian.

So says Goater's agent in England, Mark Georgevic, who has been in regular contact with City manager Joe Jordan about a move to the Second Division club.

"Bristol City are a very ambitious club, they have a new board of directors and are potentially the biggest club in the Second Division,'' said Georgevic.

Goater has spent six years in the Second Division with Rotherham since joining them from Manchester United. And though he could be joining another club in that division, Georgevic insisted it would be a good move considering City's plans and their resources.

"I do not consider it a sideways move,'' said the former Bermuda-based lawyer.

"Bristol City averaged a crowd of about 8,000 last season which was about double that of Rotherham and in Joe Jordan they have a very ambitious manager.'' Jordan is a former Scottish international striker who played for Manchester United and Leeds. So keen is his interest in Goater that he has also contacted the player in Bermuda.

"I've met Joe Jordan three times, have had long discussions and he's been very impressive,'' said Georgevic. "I speak to Bristol City's chairman every day at the moment and he wants to know what's going on because he's very keen.'' Goater, at the end of his contract, will not make a decision on the move until he returns to England next week. He's still hoping a Premier League or First Division club will show some interest. However, he admits to being impressed with City. "The terms I have negotiated with Bristol City are substantially better than his present terms but at the end of the day it's a big and important move and Shawn needs to weigh everything up,'' said Georgevic.

"I would think it's highly unlikely he will be starting at Rotherham next season. I'm very excited for him. He's going to play with better players for a bigger club and he will prove to be the player we know he is.

"Rotherham have been playing him as an out-and-out centre forward and I believe, although he's got wonderful touch and awareness of how the play is developing, that if he plays off a big centre forward it will take some of the weight off him. I think it will bring the best out of Shawn.'' City just missed out on promotion to the First Division last season but Georgevic is confident they will achieve that goal this term.

"I honestly believe they will be a First Division club in a season's time,'' Georgevic said. "They could be a very successful club. If he decides to join Bristol City I think he will enjoy his football playing under Joe Jordan who has played all over the world at the top level.'' SHAWN GOATER -- expected to make a decision next week on whether to accept an offer from ambitious English Second Divison club, Bristol City.
