England’s interim coach Stuart Pearce has made a few bold decisions by leaving out several senior players in his squad to face the Netherlands next week.I for one think Pearce’s has made the right decision to blood some of the younger guys to see if they can cut it ahead of the European Championships this summer.Interestingly, Pearce has left out the likes of Jermain Defoe, Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand and instead opted for unproven Sunderland striker Frazier Campbell as well as recalling Micah Richards and Robert Green.Pearce has been England’s Under-21 coach for several years so he knows who has the ability out of the younger crop and it will be interesting to see how it works out.It’s important to give younger players international experience before a big competition such as the Euros, so this a intelligent move by Pearce.One coach who doesn’t seem to be able to do anything right these days is Chelsea’s Andre Villas-Boas.His team were outplayed against Napoli in the Champions League in midweek and I can’t see them reversing their 3-1 deficit at Stamford Bridge in the second leg.Sure, Villas-Boas has had no luck but his team are playing at far too slow a tempo which just won’t work, especially in the Premier League.The English game nowadays is so fast that if you slow down for a second you will get punished because the speed will catch you off guard and that‘s what’s happening right now for Chelsea.They’re getting older each season with the likes of John Terry, Didier Drogba and Lampard, and until Villas-Boas finds the right blend of players Chelsea are going to struggle.So, I see Carlos Tevez has apologised to manager Roberto Mancini and finally returned to Manchester City. I think the little man will be a big boost for them as they look to lift the title, although their most important player is Yaya Toure who is the catalyst of everything they do.City have the likes of David Silva and Samir Nasri, but when you look at how they played with and then without Toure, they were two totally different teams.I’m sure they will be happy to have him back from the African Cup of Nations, and with Tevez returning as well they should formidable in the season’s run-in.Tevez is getting paid ridiculous money and you have to be professional both on and off the field, so I think for him to sit down, think about it all, and agree to fight for his place was superb.Poor old Fernando Torres. The horribly out of form Chelsea striker has been dropped from the Spain’s squad for their upcoming match against Venezuela.Sadly, I think it’s the correct call such is his poor form in front of goal at the moment.A striker’s main job is to put the ball in the back of the net and if you fail to do that you will be dropped. I still believe he’s a superb players and if he could regain his confidence he would be fine.It’s tough for him because his bad patch seems to be neverending and maybe a fresh start at another club or in a different league would see him rediscover his scoring touch.
