D-Day for Stars and Cleveland

Cleveland County and Western Stars will close out the 2012 cricket season tomorrow at Sea Breeze Oval when they meet in the promotion/relegation play-off match to determine which team will play in the Premier Division next season.Cleveland finished second from bottom in the Premier Division after just two victories from their 10 matches left them 37 points adrift of fifth-placed Southampton Rangers, while Western Stars missed the opportunity to beat Somerset to earn the automatic promotion spot in the First Division when the final round of league matches were called off because of Hurricane Leslie two weeks ago.Bermuda Cricket Board’s decision not to reschedule the matches meant that Stars finished 14 points behind Somerset and 11 ahead of third-placed Flatts who were still hopeful of finishing in the play-ff spot. Their final match was to have been against Somerset while Stars were scheduled to meet PHC.
