Somerset forfeit hands Cuts KO Cup

Somerset skipper Jekon Edness said the newly crowned First Division champions could not play the match because of a player shortage.“We were supposed to play the match the Sunday after Cup Match but we said we couldn’t make it because I wasn’t going to be able to play and we had a few players off Island,” he said. “But the BCB said they wasn’t going to reschedule the match and gave the cup to Willow Cuts.”When contacted a Cuts spokesperson said the BCB has yet to officially notify the club that they have been declared this year’s Knockout Cup champions by default. The past domestic cricket season was by far one of Cuts’ most successful in recent memory. As well as winning the Knockout Cup, the West Enders successfully defended their Western Counties crown and finished runners up behind champions Bailey’s Bay in the Premier 50 Over League.
