WindReach staff are on the lookout for a pink parrot stolen recently from the charity’s petting zoo.Executive director Erica Fulton said the charity was shocked by the theft of Rosemary, a pink cockatoo.“We realised she was missing on Wednesday morning,” she said. “We thought about the possibility that she opened her cage or someone left the cage unlocked, but the door was propped open and tied back with two metal rings.“She is very tame and her wings have been clipped, so if she got out she wouldn’t have gone very far. She would have just stayed around that area, so the assumption is she has been taken.“WindReach is here to enrich the lives of people with special needs, and Rosemary and the petting zoo are a part of that. To think that someone would come in here and steal from a charity, and from the work we are trying to do, is disappointing.”Ms Fulton said that the cockatoo is actually on loan to the charity, and the owner, was understandably distraught to learn about the disappearance.WindReach is now trying to spread the word about the missing bird, contacting veterinarians and pet stores in their search.Pink cockatoos hail from Australia. Ms Fulton said the breed is very unusual in Bermuda.“There is a reward for information and if someone wants to turn her in anonymously, that would be fine,” she said.“If anyone knows anything, please let us know.
