Strategy for national tourism to be unveiled tomorrow
A report highlighting the key priorities of the long-awaited National Tourism Plan has been published.Tourism Minister Wayne Furbert said the new report laid the foundation for the Tourism Plan by identifying the future direction for Bermuda’s tourism industry.The report highlights the “hot buttons” of transportation, marketing, new hotel developments, on-island communications, a tourism authority, cruise ships, service standards, airlift, gaming, and Bermudian culture and heritage.Mr Furbert called a press conference today to say “today is the day” as he waved around a copy of the National Tourism Plan Strategic.But when he was asked to go into specifics, he said very little other than: “I will lay it in the House of Assembly tomorrow.”The National Tourism Plan is due to be completed by mid-April with those who are producing the plan to be chosen in the next two weeks.
