Emergency call-up for keeper Crockwell
Bermuda boss Devarr Boyles has called up overseas goalkeeper Mikkail Crockwell as back-up for tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier against Guyana.Boyles has been forced into the move after his other back-up goalkeeper, Tahj Bell, was sent off during Friday night’s game against Trinidad and is now serving a one match ban as a result.Bell was shown the red card in bizarre fashion after relieving himself in the far corner of the National Sports Centre towards the end of the first half.Crockwell, who plays his football for Thomas College in the North Atlantic Conference, is expected to arrive in Bermuda tomorrow and will then fly back home on Wednesday, although the Bermuda Football Association are still trying to confirm the full terms of his release with Thomas College.Mark Wade, chairman of the BFA’s Player Development Committee, said that once Boyles and his coaches had identified who they wanted, the Association had sprung into action.“We’re not ready to make an official announcement because we are still ironing out some of the details,” said Wade. “The coach told us who he wanted and we’re trying to make that happen.”Crockwell, 21, signed for –St David’s from Dandy Town at the start season and was part of last summer’s Bermuda Hogges squad.
