Crunch time for Bay and Police
Police and Bailey's Bay will be looking to grab a spot in next weekend's semi-finals when the final round of group matches in the Twenty20 League kicks off today.
Both sides hold onto the second and final semi-final spots with two games remaining, with Bay being the one with the most to lose this weekend.
Sitting on 21 points in group B, six points behind Southampton Rangers, Bay are three points ahead of Devonshire Rec. who sit on 18.
The road is simple for the Sea Breeze Oval club; win today's match against Flatt's and be all but guaranteed a place into the second part of the season and a showdown with defending champions and hated rivals St. David's.
Having already beaten Devonshire, odds will certainly be in Bay's favour particularly with the nearest rivals squaring off against table topping Rangers.
Their Sunday match is against Somerset.
Police, who are on 21points, have an easier road to the semis as the side has a six-point lead on PHC and a match against Warwick, a game that should win handily.
However, should they lose that match and PHC beat Somerset Bridge, tomorrow's match against St. David's will be a make or break for Police.
PHC play Warwick and should come out of the weekend unbeaten and looking for results to go their way thus setting up the weekend for exciting matches with everything to play for.
Things can change drastically if both second placed teams were to lose, with the league issuing six points for a win.
Should Bay lose to Flatt's and Devonshire get by Rangers, it will be Devonshire who will be in the driver's seat with their last match being against Flatt's.
Another viable option would be Flatt's who have their destiny in their hands in some aspect with the side having to play both of the teams ahead of them.
Currently on 15 with St. George's, should Flatt's beat both Bay and Devonshire would be heading to the semis at the expense of their group B rivals.
The leaders of groups A and B, St. David's and Rangers respectively, have nothing to play for with their names already into the next round and looking set to face each other for the Twenty20 title.
Both sides are unbeaten and St. David's haven't lost a match in the shorter version since the league started last year, a span of 11 games.
The champions will play Police tomorrow with their match against Young Men's Social Club not being played with their opponents having dropped out.
Rangers will Devonshire today, while their game against Leg Trappers has been cancelled because the First Division side failed to raise a team.
