Trott hoping others will join him at Social Club
Rodney Trott is hoping to lure fellow Bermuda internationals Tamauri Tucker and Dion Stovell with him to Young Men's Social Club for the new season.
Trott has agreed to join the First Division club as a player and assistant coach after believing that the time had come for a change.
The trio would give a huge boost to a side that struggled last year and were eventually relegated only a year after winning the Premier Division title.
And the Bermuda international has wasted no time in searching out players he thinks can help restore Social Club to the pinnacle of the domestic game.
"I've been in touch with Social Club about this year. We're looking at Tamauri Tucker, I think he might be coming over too and then there will still be the same people from last year, and we're also looking at Dion Stovell.
"And hopefully when I get back they should have that in order and we'll go from there."
And Social Club will be looking to the Cup Match bowler to lead their charge back to the top flight at the first time of asking.
"I think it was time for a change, and it was something I wanted to do for myself," said Trott, who is currently on tour with the team here in South Africa. "I'm looking forward to the challenge and hope that everything goes well.
"I'm going as a player and assistant coach, I'm looking forward to the new role and will take one day at a time and hope I can show my worth at Social Club."
The move may come as a shock to some, but Trott, who is leaving Bailey's Bay to drop down a division, said that he was looking forward to a new challenge and to furthering his coaching education.
Having already begun his coaching career at the Academy in Australia, Trott is looking to what he will do once he stops playing.
"Coaching is something that I want to do," he said. "I got my levels in Australia, and I'm looking forward to the challenge. This is what I want to be doing after I finish playing cricket."
