BSX slips to lowest level since 2000

The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) slipped to its lowest level since November 2000 yesterday.The Index dropped 24.07 points (1.25 percent) to 1,894.94, with 30,441 shares worth $104,835.05 traded.Meanwhile Butterfield Bank's common shares also fell five percent (15 cents) to $2.85 - its lowest point since June 2000, since when the bank has undertaken a stock split.

The Index dropped 24.07 points (1.25 percent) to 1,894.94, with 30,441 shares worth $104,835.05 traded.
Meanwhile Butterfield Bank's common shares also fell five percent (15 cents) to $2.85 - its lowest point since June 2000, since when the bank has undertaken a stock split.
The bank saw 29,300 common shares change hands.
Bermuda Container Line Ltd., however, rose 2.94 percent (40 cents) to $14, with 500 shares transacted.
The only other trader was the Ascendant Group Ltd., as 641 shares were traded, but its share price held firm at $15.50.
The BSX Insurance Index was up 25.05 points (2.61 percent) at 982.04.
