BNTB sinks lower

Butterfield Bank sunk to its lowest point in eight years of $4.50, slipping 14.28 percent (75 cents) on The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) yesterday.
The last time it fell below $5 was in the middle of April 2001. The bank had shown slight signs of recovery on Thursday.
The bank closed at $4.50, with 140,600 shares traded.
Overall, the Index finished down 131.05 points (5.7 percent) at 2,166.58, with 140,600 shares worth $640,450 changing hands.
The BSX Insurance Index, however, ended the day up 762.71 points (1.02 percent).
