Hot-shot Todd praises Rams' team-mates
Women's Premier Division top goalscorer Shauntae Todd has highlighted the unity among her new team-mates at North Village after the Lady Rams completed an amazing 'Double' winning season with the 6-0 thrashing over Todd's former club, Dandy Stars, in the Women's FA Cup final.
The Bermuda international banged in an impressive 35 goals in the league campaign – some 24 goals ahead of striker partner Dominique Richardson.
And she netted 53 goals in all competitions.
Yet while taking most of the accolades for the club's success, Todd put the spotlight on her team-mates rather than herself, noting it was a team effort throughout the campaign.
"We have had a fabulous season," said Todd. "At the beginning of the season I didn't think I would score that many goals but it was a personal goal I had for myself.
"We had a great season and to accomplish what we have this year is a step in the right direction.
"Dominique is one of many fantastic players we have on our team. We all worked together and it was important that the two of us struck a chord to get the team off on the right foot.
"We knew it would be a good partnership considering we have played together on the national team, the training sessions were good and we knew we had a fighting chance of beating the likes of Lady Cougars and those teams."
Todd struck a staggering five goals for Lady Rams in the FA Cup final – her side's final match of the season. Village had previously won the league title, finishing three points ahead of Lady Cougars.
The team scored a remarkable 91 goals and suffered just one loss.
It was the striker's first season at the Bernard Park club, leaving St. John's Field after having had a season that saw her leave for school abroad while travelling back to the Island to play when she could.
While leaving Stars was a hard decision, Todd said she was pleased with the reception she received from her new team-mates.
Not to get caught up on this year's success, Todd is already looking towards next season and being the hunted rather then the hunter.
"Last year I played for Dandy Stars and was away in school as well.
"The transition from Stars to Village wasn't that bad because I knew most of the girls who played on their squad.
"We all know how the other played, I have good friendships with a lot of them off the field so it was a smooth transition.
"The team made me feel very comfortable and we have a lot of harmony, not only on the pitch but off it as well.
"Next season we will try to go out and be stronger than we were this year.
"I think if I can continue scoring and Dominique and others also contribute then again we should be looking at winning the league.
"We know we have the bulls-eye on our backs, so we will look to come out hard and look to apply pressure early on those looking to win the league."
