Cannabis plants seized
East End Police have seized 30 cannabis plants from a secluded area near St. George's Golf Course.
Officers found cultivated plants in grounds adjacent to the golf course around 5 p.m. on Tuesday. No arrests had been made by press time last night.
Second in command of the Eastern area, Inspector Andy Morgan said: "Clearly a small minority remain intent on cultivating and dealing in large quantities of controlled substances. As we continue to work with the community, every effort will be made to make this behavior unattractive.
"We actively encourage members of the public to report any suspicious activity to us in confidence at Southside Police Station on 293-2222 and thank the community for their assistance in this case."

Injured sailor stays with boat
A sailor alone on his ketch and suffering from broken ribs yesterday refused to climb aboard a boat which was sent to help him.
Instead, he took some seasickness tablets and insisted on waiting for the Bermuda Islander to come to tow his 43-feet Bandit to safety.
Rescue Coordination Center Norfolk sent the Seven Express to the aid of the sailor, who had taken a tumble aboard his boat about 200 miles north-west of Bermuda, at about 7 a.m. yesterday.
However, he did not want to leave his boat at sea, and last night was said to be awaiting a rendezvous with cargo ship Bermuda Islander, which is making its way from New Jersey to Bermuda, and is due on the Island at 6.30 a.m. tomorrow.
