End-to-End sets a new donations record of $340,000

Superheroes! Employees of First Atlantic Commerce (FAC), a Bermuda-based, online multi-currency payment and risk management solutions provider, this week won the Team Spirit Award after participating in the annual Catlin End-to-End. An FAC team of ten biked across the island to raise money for the Bermuda End-to-End Charitable Trust. Clad in Superhero costumes in an effort to collect more pledges (the brainchild of vice-president of International Business Development, Christopher Burns), the team raised a total of $9120, matched in part by FAC.

This year's End-to-End race brought in more donations than any year in the event's history, to the benefit of 11 of the Island's charities.

More than 2,000 people took part in the May 2 event and their efforts raised a combined total of $340,000.

End-to-End Charitable Trust chairperson Anne Mello said: "It brings us tremendous pride and pleasure that, in spite of the difficult economic times, we are able to support local charities in such a meaningful way."

Organisers held an award ceremony at which cheques were presented to the charities and those who raised the most money were honoured.

Karen Warrens was named the top individual participant after bringing in $8,070 in donations, while Andrew Frith was named top youth participant after raising $1,389.

Top corporate team RenaissanceRe, which raised $19,525, was also praised. First Atlantic Commerce won the Team Spirit award, and Sandys Secondary Middle School, which had 256 participants who raised a total of $2,747, was given the Youth Invasion Award.

St. John Ambulance Brigade got this year's Top Volunteer accolade and eight participants who each raised more than a thousand dollars also picked up awards.

Graham Pewter, CEO of Caitlin Bermuda, the event's title sponsor this year, said: "It is truly inspiring to see thousands of Bermuda residents come together each year to generate financial support for well-deserving local charities. We intend to be associated with End-to-End for years to come."
