Riders ready to be judged

Bermuda will be up against riders from Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands next Wednesday when they compete in the 2010 FEI World Dressage Challenge at the National Equestrian Centre at Vesey Street.

However those other countries' riders will not actually be in Bermuda for the competition, since the annual challenge sees the same international judges travel to every country where the riders will then compete in the same tests in the same size ring.

The two judges are Ricardo Rojas from Costa Rica and Rosa Cristina Franco from Peru and they are making their last stop next week in Bermuda having already judged the other competing islands.

Bermuda's team is expected to be strong with riders such as Dawn Fox on Lancelot competing in the Elementary and Medium levels and Ashley Gibbs on her mount Landtango competing in the Elementary and Preliminary levels.

Paula George on Wiriana will compete in the Prix St Georges level and Suzette Sailsman also on Wiriana will ride in the Medium level.

This Sunday will see riders compete in the Caribbean Equestrian Association jumping trails and a schooler jumper show at Vesey Street.
