Milligan-Whyte stresses she had no involvement in alleged fraud

Bermudian attorney Lynda Milligan-Whyte has moved to clarify that she had no involvement in the Hedge Hog and Conserve Fund or Interinvest (Bermuda) Ltd. at the time of activitities that led to a police investigation into the fund and the fund manager.

Last Friday this newspaper reported that Bermuda Police had recommended to the Director of Public Prosecutions that money manager Hans Black, the principal of Interinvest, be prosectuted for allegedly defrauding a client of $6 million.

The Police investigation was launched after a complaint from Regula Dobie, a Swiss national living in Kenya, who has been trying to withdraw funds she had sent for investment in the Hedge Hog and Conserve Fund since mid-2007.

In the story we pointed out that several directors of the fund and the fund manager had resigned in recent months and that one of their replacements had been Ms Milligan-Whyte.

Ms Milligan-Whyte became a director of Interinvest (Bermuda) Ltd. in May 2009 and is now a resident representative of the entity.

Richmond Corporate Services Ltd., the corporate services business of Ms. Milligan-Whyte's practice, has been providing services to Interinvest (Bermuda) since August 26, 2008 and to the Hedge Hog and Conserve Fund since April 28, 2009.

Ms Milligan-Whyte stressed that her involvement with the entities started after the time of the activities that led to the investigation.
