Award winning film to be screened tomorrow night
Indie comedy 'Tiny Furniture' screens tomorrow night as part of Bermuda International Film Festival's film series.
Compared by critics to the films of Woody Allen, it was written and directed by Lena Dunham, who also plays the main character Aura.
Ms Dunham's mother and sister (Laurie Simmons and Grace Dunham) also play major roles in the film as Aura's mother and sister.
Returning from college to her mother's New York loft, Aura finds herself in a dead-end job, giving herself prison-style tattoos out of boredom and becoming involved with two openly damaged men. The film won the Jury Prize for Best Narrative Film in the 2010 South by Southwest Film Festival, and the Emerging Filmmaker Award at the 2010 Traverse Film Festival.
Film series coordinator Andrew Stoneham said: "'Tiny Furniture' is full of quirky, offbeat humour.
"Recent film series selections have been more serious, so we wanted to lighten it up for August."
• 'Tiny Furniture' will be shown at 6.30 p.m. tomorrow at the BUEI Tradewinds Auditorium.
Tickets are $8 for film club members and $10 for non-members, and will be available at the door from 5.30 p.m.
