BA talks continue in bid to avert strike

LONDON (Bloomberg) — British Airways' talks over staffing levels for cabin crew are likely to continue over the weekend in an effort to avoid a strike, the Unite union said.

Negotiations so far have been "very complex" and have covered "a whole host of different issues", Len McCluskey Unite's assistant general secretary, said in a phone interview.

BA can only resolve the dispute through a settlement with the union, with flight attendants "determined to stand their ground", said McCluskey, who spoke after updating members on the talks at a mass meeting at Kempton racecourse, near London.

Unite won a mandate to call a strike in a month-long ballot that ended on Monday.
