The truth about war
July 29, 2010
Dear Sir,
Surely in today's world where the media's access has become instantaneous then surely, our multi endowed information industry has become mature enough, to digest and report on the scores of every day truths about war! I mean war scenes as they every day happen. And particularly as expunged by WikiLeaks which arrived minus the structured 'hoopla' and the flag waving deceits practised by most administration: 'hoopla' as persistently inserted to obscure much of war's unsavoury realities. Such reveals the desires of an 86-year-old Russian Convoy veteran, whose life long regret is that EVOLUTION has as yet failed to produce a peace loving species: despite, an alleged 28 attempts at remodelling throughout our four million years existence.

Cox has not done the job
August 2, 2010.
Dear Sir,
A new Premier? Paula Cox should definitely not be our new Premier. She did and said nothing while money was being spent and spent. She was indeed a "cog in the wheel" we do not need a follower but a strong, fair, non racist leader! Mrs. Cox has not done the job of watching our finances therefore will be unable to lead Bermuda. Let's all get behind Mr. Lister and have a country we can all be proud of.

It's not Sunday school
July 25, 2010
Dear Sir,
I see o n the local television news that the Honourable Mr. Zane DeSilva was very upset that people booed at him as he was walking from the House of Parliament on Friday the 23rd of this month, on his way to his car. As he was driving off somebody touched his car. I think Mr. DeSilva needs to know that politics is not a Sunday school trip and if he cannot take the heat he should get out of the kitchen. I am sorry if his 13-year-old son was frightened. He is unfortunately not the only political child who has been set upon and ridiculed. I repeat politics is no Sunday school and when you stick your head out you to take the consequences.

If they could see the world
August 9, 2010
Dear Sir,
Dear Gunmen:
I travelled to Uganda January and I really wish I could have taken you with me. I wish you could have met the grown men that as children were kidnapped and forced to kill. I wish you could have heard of children who were forced to kill their own families. I wish you could have understood that the rebels used HIV AIDS as a weapon of war by taking all the young girls and boys of villages. I wish you could have listened as you heard the story of a boy who hid in a tree while rebels attacked his family home and abducted his brothers and cousins.
I wish you could have seen a country struggling in the aftermath of a war. I wish you could have tried to comprehend having to sleep in fear in complete darkness while rebels raided your village praying they would leave before reaching your hut. I wish you saw that when child soldiers came home they were welcomed with open arms and forgiven. I wish you could have seen the tears and heartbreak, because maybe you would see life as precious instead of disposable.
Maybe you would have realised that we are all brothers and sisters. Maybe you would learn to forgive the pain you have experienced. Maybe you would crave education to start living an honest life. Maybe you would stop selling. Maybe just maybe you would stop killing your brothers. I wish I could have taken you with me brother/sister so that you would see life as a blessing and not take it away so easily.

Pure fiction
August 8, 2010
Dear Sir,
What a bizarre story that appeared in The Royal Gazette on Monday, August 2, reporting that there had been no arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol over the (four day) Cup Match holiday. No sooner had the ink dried on that report, it was corrected to report that, in fact, there had been one arrest made. It was later touted that this 'phenomenon' (I would actually call it a 'miracle') was legitimate and due to a 'campaign' by CADA.
Now listen… just because there was only one arrest does not mean that there were not thousands of people driving their cars and cycles (and perhaps even trucks) under the influence of alcohol over that time period. To know the truth on that matter, you just had to be at the game or at any of the many active bars (which were filled to capacity) to notice how much alcohol was being consumed (as is usual for us). Also, the little blue signs scattered around showing 'CADA.BM' was so meaningless a message as to almost escape notice and certainly, in my opinion, could hardly constitute part of a 'campaign'. No. Clearly the story is one of deception and make-believe… a fairy tale… pure fiction. Shame on whoever is trying to pull the wool over our eyes!

Incorrect information
August 5, 2010
Dear Sir,
On Tuesday, August 3, I was quoted in The Royal Gazette as saying that Pembroke received nine inches of rain over Cup Match. This was incorrect and I apologise for the error. My part of Pembroke recorded 7.70 inches of rain over the four day weekend, while the Airport received 3.34 inches.
