Concern after umpires' no-show
agenda during a Bermuda Cricket Umpires Association meeting last night.
Secretary Steven Douglas confirmed that the officials' absence was of great concern to the Association.
At least two Premier Division matches had no officials show up and several others had just one.
"What can I say, there was a schedule released and everybody knew what they had to do. It's just unfortunate. Nobody called to say that they could not do their games, yet there were a lot of no-shows,'' said Douglas.
Of particular concern was the Central Counties Cup final between Police and Western Stars at Police Field where only Dennis Raynor turned up. At such games three umpires are usually assigned, including a stand-by.
The BCUA, however, were stretched at the weekend as regulars such as George Francis, Randy Butler and Wilbur Pitcher were attending the West Indies Cricket Conference in New York.
